What is Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS)?

UARS is a sleep disordered breathing condition where the airway becomes partially blocked or narrowed during sleep, causing increased resistance to airflow. The body has to work extra hard just to breathe. Unlike sleep apnea, you do not stop breathing, but the effort to pull air through a tight airway often leads to frequent sleep disruptions and poor quality of sleep.

How can Myofunctional Therapy help?

In myofunctional therapy, we look at how the tongue, lips, and facial muscles may be affecting the airway. Strengthening these muscles and improving nasal breathing can help open the airway, reduce snoring and help you sleep more deeply and wake up feeling more refreshed.
